GM To Recall Thousands Of Cadillac SRX Crossovers

General Motors is recalling more than 47,000 Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles because of a problem with the side air bags.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its website that the head protection air bag on the passenger side won't inflate in a crash if no one is in the front seat, and says a right-side passenger in the back seat may not be protected and could get hurt in a frontal or side crash.

Dealers will reprogram the air bag sensors to fix the problem free of charge.
The recall affects 2011 SRX crossovers made between Feb. 2, 2010 and April 29 of this year.
GM will notify owners by mail starting Friday.
